While summer break can give kids a chance to recharge before the next school year, it can also be difficult for those who rely on the structure of school to help support their mental health.
“It is really important … to find some type of a routine. It might be not that structured as typically it is during the school year, but now make a plan. Have a plan in place so kids know what might be coming the next day,” Christy Buck, the CEO of the Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan – be nice., said. “Surprises are fun, but oftentimes that unstructured time and spontaneous plans might create some more anxiety.”
