Sometimes, hairstylists and barbers can take on the role of unofficial therapist while a client is in their chair. The Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan is offering free trainings so they’ll know how to respond.
“Oftentimes, they’re the best conversations that can happen: How are you doing? How’s your week going? What are you up to this week? … You establish relationships with that person that you’re going to trust someone with something that is important to us all and that would be our hair,” explained Christy Buck with Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan Be Nice.
